“Her voices, our time”

Women artists from Korea and Canada come together through contemporary art, cultural dialogue and shared perspectives

OIS ART OF CANADA present “Her Voices, Our Time”: Korea–Canada Women Artists Exchange Exhibition, taking place October 6–17, 2026, at Dignam Gallery, Women’s Art Association of Canada (WAAC) in Toronto.

Presented in celebration of Korean Heritage Month in Canada, Her Voices, Our Time brings together women artists from Korea and Canada to explore how art can create dialogue across cultures, experiences and generations.

Through diverse artistic practices, participating artists share perspectives shaped by their individual cultural backgrounds and lived experiences. The exhibition reflects on themes including identity, memory, migration, community and women’s experiences in contemporary society, while creating opportunities for meaningful exchange between artists and audiences from different cultural communities.

Connecting Korea and Canada Through Women’s Voices

Canada’s multicultural environment provides a meaningful setting for an exhibition centred on dialogue between Korean and Canadian women artists.

Featuring a range of visual practices including: painting, Hanji art, photography, Korean folk painting (Minhwa), calligraphy, ceramics, traditional crafts and mixed media. The exhibition presents both contemporary interpretations of Korean cultural traditions and the diverse artistic perspectives of women working in Canada.

Rather than presenting a single definition of women’s art, Her Voices, Our Time creates a shared space in which different stories, cultural identities and artistic approaches can coexist and engage with one another.

The exhibition also seeks to build lasting professional relationships among participating artists and cultural organizations and to encourage future Korea–Canada artistic collaboration.
